As someone who has been in the market for a new half-shell helmet, I was intrigued by the GMAX HH-65, which I had heard was a top seller in its category. After trying it out, I could immediately see why.

The polycarbonate shell is incredibly lightweight, weighing in at just over two pounds, and the helmet comes with a variety of features that I found incredibly useful.

First of all, I appreciate that G-Max is based in the United States and that they stand behind their products.

The fact that all their helmets come with a three-year warranty, which is longer than the industry standard, shows their confidence in their products.

Plus, it gives me peace of mind knowing that if anything were to happen to my helmet, I have that added protection.

When it comes to bang for your buck, G-Max delivers. I purchased their dot half-shell helmet with the drop-down advisor, quick-release chin straps, and an extra clear lens for only $99. It’s incredible to get all those features and still have an affordable helmet.

Additionally, they have some cool graphics available, and I went with the copper graphic, which has a beautiful pearl and paint finish. It’s no surprise that this helmet is one of their top sellers at the moment.

Shell Construction

One of the standout features of the HH-65 is its shape, which falls somewhere in the middle of a round and long oval.

For me, this was a great fit, and I appreciated that it was true to size based on the measurement guide.

It’s worth noting that some users have found the helmet to create a bit of a “mushroom head” effect, but I personally didn’t find this to be too noticeable.

In addition to its fit, the HH-65 comes with a number of useful features. For one, it’s DOT-rated and therefore street legal.

It also has a number of “gizmos and gadgets” that I found really useful, such as a drop-down sun visor and a quick-release chin strap.

When it comes to purchasing a motorcycle helmet, getting the right size is crucial. The last thing you want is a helmet that’s too big or too small for your head.

That’s why I always pay attention to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer, and Gmax is no exception.

Gmax helmets come in a range of sizes, from extra small to 2x. However, it’s important to note that the shape of the helmet may not be suitable for everyone.

According to Gmax’s website, their helmets have a slightly longer oval shape that falls somewhere between a long oval and a round shape.

To ensure that you get the right size and shape for your head, I highly recommend using Gmax’s sizing chart as a guide.

From personal experience, I can say that their sizing chart is accurate, and I found a helmet that fits me perfectly.

So don’t guess when it comes to helmet sizing – use the chart provided by Gmax to ensure a safe and comfortable fit.

Let me walk you through the various features of the G-Max HH65 helmet. First, the helmet’s peak can be removed with a few screws if you prefer a more classic look without the visor. But if you want to use the visor, you can leave it on.

The helmet also comes with a removable, retractable sun visor that is UV-resistant and smoked, which is great for riding in bright sunlight.

In addition to the smoked visor, the G-Max HH65 comes with a clear lens that can be easily installed if you prefer to ride at night or in low-light conditions.

The helmet also comes with ear warmers that can be clipped onto the bottom edge of the helmet to keep you warm on cooler rides.

It’s worth noting that most manufacturers don’t include a clear lens, making this a nice value-add from G-Max.

The dark shield of the helmet is quite dark and provides adequate protection from the sun without the need for sunglasses. It also does a great job of blocking wind and debris.

The neck roll insert is also a nice touch, providing additional warmth on chilly days. However, the visor is a bit narrow, which may make it difficult to wear glasses with larger frames.

Chin Strap

When I first got my Gmax HH65 half-shell helmet, I was immediately impressed with the quick-release chin strap.

Having struggled with D-ring systems in the past, I was happy to have the convenience of a ratchet-style system.

And after using it for a while now, I can confidently say that I won’t be going back.

The quick-release chin strap is located on the underside of the helmet, and it’s easy to locate and use.

Instead of having to thread the strap through a D-ring and then secure it by pulling the strap back through, all I have to do is pull the release lever, and the chin strap comes loose.

It’s a simple and convenient system that makes putting on and taking off the helmet a breeze.

One thing to note is that the chin strap is adjustable, so you can get a snug and secure fit. I’ve found that the ratchet-style system makes it easier to adjust the strap to the right tension since I can make small adjustments without undoing and redoing the entire strap.

Let’s take a look at the interior of the GMax HH-65 helmet. As you can see, there are small holes in the liner where the neck warmer can be attached for cooler rides.

The ear warmers can also be clipped onto the bottom edge of the helmet for added warmth.

The interior liner is removable and washable, which is a nice feature for keeping your helmet fresh and clean.

It’s made of GMax’s Cool Max material, which helps wick away moisture and keeps you feeling cool during hot rides.

Behind the liner, there’s a dual-density EPS crush liner which provides added protection in the event of an accident.

The helmet has a relatively low profile, but there’s still enough EPS foam to absorb energy in case of impact.

If you’re looking to use an intercom system while wearing your helmet, the GMax HH-65 half-shell helmet might be a good option for you.

You can install the speakers in the ear warmers, as I showed you earlier, and use them to communicate with your riding buddies while on the road.

It’s important to note that the intercom system is not included with the helmet and would need to be purchased separately.

However, the fact that the helmet has the ability to accommodate an intercom system is a nice feature for those who like to ride with others and want to stay in communication.

One important factor to consider when purchasing a motorcycle helmet is the warranty. I was pleased to learn that the GMAX HH-65 Half Shell Helmet has a three-year warranty.

If defects or issues arise within three years of purchasing the helmet, GMAX will repair or replace it for free.

Having a warranty like this provides peace of mind and shows that GMAX stands behind its product.

Knowing that the manufacturer is willing to stand behind their product and make it right if anything goes wrong is always reassuring.

Overall, the warranty is just another added benefit to consider when looking at the GMAX HH-65 Half Shell Helmet.

It’s always important to consider all aspects of a helmet before making a purchase, and the warranty is just one of the many factors to keep in mind.
