Key Takeaways

  • Sporty style with protection
  • Breathable mesh for summer
  • Removable liner for versatility

I decided to test out the new Sedici Federico 2.0 mesh jacket and pants to see if they could be the perfect lightweight and breathable riding outfit for hot weather.

After hundreds of miles wearing the Federico 2.0 set on my bike, I’m ready to share my thoughts.

Overview of the Federico 2.0 Set

The Federico 2.0 replaces the original Federico set from Sedici with some noteworthy upgrades while keeping the price relatively affordable.

The jacket now includes upgraded CE Level 2 armor in the elbows and shoulders for more impact protection.

Both the jacket and pants feature reinforced abrasion zones with 1680D ballistic nylon overlays to better withstand slides. They also have a lightweight mesh chassis to allow excellent airflow for warm-weather riding.

Fit, Comfort, and Versatility

I typically wear a size large jacket and XL pants. The sizing chart was pretty accurate, and both pieces fit me well.

The jacket is sufficiently roomy to layer a hoodie underneath, while the pants are comfortable over jeans. The mesh material has a nice soft feel against the skin.

Small details like the neoprene collar and soft cuffs make the jacket very comfortable when fully zipped. With the thermal liner, it adapts well from the mid-60s up to the low 90s temperature-wise.

Protection and Safety

For the price, the Federico 2.0 sets a high standard for safety. The CE Level 2 elbow and shoulder armor provide serious impact protection without limiting mobility.

The ballistic nylon overlays add abrasion resistance in key wear zones. I would have liked to see hip armor included with the pants for even more coverage. Overall though, this set provides solid protection comparable to more expensive mesh gear.

Conclusion

This affordable mesh riding gear impressed me after hundreds of test miles. With its sporty look and excellent breathability, the Sedici Federico 2.0 jacket and pants are easy to recommend for warm-weather riding.

The upgrades make them even better than the prior version. Between the protection features, reflectivity, and ventilation, they deliver tremendous value.

Key Takeaways

  • Feature-packed at low cost
  • Comfortable, cool, and safe
  • Versatile four-season protection

One of my favorite things about the Aleksei-2 jacket and pants is the ability to adapt them for different weather conditions by adding or removing the included liners.

The waterproof liner kept me bone dry during rides in the rain. The insulated thermal liner added noticeable warmth without much bulk on brisk morning rides in the 50s.

Having the flexibility to adjust layers based on the temperature and weather is a huge plus. The Aleksei-2 can truly be a 3-4 season riding suit with this modular design.

Ventilation Where It Matters

Even with the liners removed, I stay cool wearing the Aleksei-2 jacket and pants on hot summer days, thanks to the generous mesh paneling integrated throughout.

Strategically placed mesh sections on the chest, inner arms, shoulders, thighs, and back allow air to flow freely.

Heat and humidity don’t build up inside like with some riding gear. I also appreciate that the mesh seems more open and breathable compared to the previous Aleksei jacket.

Comfort That Goes the Distance

The Aleksei-2 riding suit strikes a great balance between protection and comfort. I never feel restricted wearing it, whether I’m sitting upright or tucked into a sportbike riding position.

The pre-curved arms on the jacket and articulated knees on the pants prevent binding or bunching up. Stretch panels in the shoulders, crotch, back, and knees also allow free movement.
