Scorpion Exo-R1 Air Carbon Review: Ultimate in Protection?

I recently had the opportunity to test out the new Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet, and I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I put it on, I could tell that the EXO-R1 Air Carbon was in a league of its own.

In this review, I will discuss this helmet’s various features and why it stands out from the competition.

But, the main question I will answer in this review will be: Is this the best full-face motorcycle helmet for you? Let’s find out!

Shell Construction

The shell construction of the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet is one of the key features that sets it apart from other full-face helmets on the market.

The helmet is constructed with a combination of weaved carbon fiber and resin-infused TCT-U (Thermoplastic Composite Technology – Ultra Lightweight).

The use of carbon fiber in the helmet construction makes it so lightweight yet incredibly strong.

Carbon fiber is a material that is five times stronger than steel and two times stronger than aluminum, yet it is much lighter.

Carbon fiber is a material that is five times stronger than steel and two times stronger than aluminum, yet it is much lighter.

The resin-infused TCT-U shell is also important to the helmet’s construction.

This material is a thermoplastic composite, which can withstand high temperatures and high-impact forces.

The result is a full-face helmet that can disperse energy in the event of an accident, reducing the risk of injury to you.

Shell Sizes

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet is available in various sizes, from XS to XXL, to fit most head sizes.

The helmet is designed with a streamlined shape to reduce wind resistance and improve aerodynamics

This means that this full-face helmet is less likely to move around or lift off your head while on the road, providing added safety.

The face shield is one of the key features that sets it apart from other full-face helmets on the market.

The helmet has an optically superior clear MaxVision pin-lock-ready face shield installed, providing a clear and unobstructed view of the road for you.

The face shield is scratch-resistant and provides 95% UV-A & UV-B protection, which means that it can block harmful rays from the sun, protecting your eyes from damage.

This is especially important for long rides, as it can help prevent eye strain and fatigue. It also features an anti-fog insert, which helps to prevent fogging in cold or wet weather

This is a common problem with other helmets, as fogging can impede your vision and make it difficult to see the road.

The anti-fog insert helps to prevent this issue, ensuring that you have a clear view of the road at all times.

The helmet’s face shield also features an Elliptic II quick-release mechanism.

This mechanism allows you to easily remove and replace the face shield, making it easy to clean or change it for a different tint.

This mechanism also integrated a center lock for a superior shield-to-gasket seal, which prevents wind and debris from entering the helmet.

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet features an advanced ventilation system to optimize airflow and keep your head cool and dry.

The helmet features a ram-air intake system with four port exhaust spoiler system and EPS channels for an optimal flow-thru effect.

The ram-air intake system allows air to flow into the helmet, while the four-port exhaust spoiler system and EPS channels allow the hot air inside the helmet to escape.

This creates a constant flow of fresh air into the helmet and hot air out, ensuring that your head is kept cool and dry, even in hot or humid weather.

The helmet also features a breath deflector included for enhanced fog-free performance.

This deflector helps to redirect your breath away from the face shield, preventing it from fogging up.

In addition, an Aero skirt chin curtain is included to help reduce wind noise.

Fastening Strap System

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet features a titanium double D-ring closure, which provides a secure and reliable fastening system.

This ensures that the helmet stays securely in place, even in an accident.

Bluetooth System

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet has integrated speaker pockets to accommodate Bluetooth communication system speakers.

This allows riders to stay connected with their fellow riders or make hands-free phone calls while on the road.

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet features a removable and washable KwikWick III anti-microbial interior designed to keep you cool, dry, and comfortable, even on long rides.

KwikWick III is a specially designed material that is highly breathable and wicks away moisture.

It helps to keep your head dry and cool, even in hot or humid weather

It also features an anti-microbial treatment that helps to prevent the growth of bacteria and odors, making it easy to maintain and clean.

The helmet also features an AirFit inflation adjustment system between the cheek pads and shell, which provides a custom fit and reduces wind noise and lift.

This allows you to adjust the helmet to its head shape and size, ensuring that it fits snugly and securely.

This system blows air into the cheek pads, which expand and conforms to your head shape.

The helmet also features 3D contoured Kwikfit cheek pads with eyeglasses channel, which provide added comfort and support for your cheekbones and jaw.

These cheek pads are also designed with an EMT-friendly emergency release system, which allows emergency responders to quickly and easily remove the helmet during an accident.

Safety Regulations

The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon helmet is DOT and ECE-approved, which means it meets or exceeds the safety standards set by these organizations.

Additionally, the helmet comes with a 5-year warranty, giving you peace of mind that your investment is protected.
