Features

Lightweight Composite Shell

The Covert FX is lightweight due to its composite shell construction, weighing in at only three pounds and five ounces. This makes it feel very light when you pick it up.

Three Shell Sizes

The helmet comes in three shell sizes, which is about an extra shell size than a lot of other full-face helmets in this price range. The more shells a helmet has, the better it will fit closer to your head.

Low Profile Design

The Scorpion EXO Covert FX has a low-profile design, which is essential for a full-face helmet that focuses on the classic drag race vibe style. The helmet’s EPS is low profile, making it a very compact helmet.

DOT and ECE 2206 Safety Certification

The Covert FX is DOT and ECE 2206 safety certified, making it street-legal in the United States and meeting the new safety standards in Europe.

The ECE 2206 safety standard is higher than the previous 2205 standard, requiring more rigorous testing, including four drop tests instead of one, a high velocity, low velocity, and an angular momentum test.

Smoke and Clear Face Shields Included

The helmet comes with both a smoked and clear face shield. The shields are fog treated with their ever-clear face shield treatment on the interior, so they should not fog up on you.

Fit and Comfort

Intermediate Oval Head Shape

The helmet’s fit is true to size, and the Scorpion EXO Covert FX is an intermediate oval head shape, making it suitable for most heads in the United States.

Removable and Washable Liner

The helmet’s liner is removable and washable, making it easy to freshen up once in a while.

Chin Curtain

The chin curtain gives a little bit of protection from the wind and elements and is removable if you do not want to run it. It also helps to cut down noise.

Double D-Ring Closure

The Scorpion EXO Covert FX has a classic double D-ring closure.

Ventilation

Switchable Chin Bar Ventilation

The ventilation in the helmet comes in the form of a louver design on the chin bar. The chin bar ventilation is switchable from the inside of the helmet, making it functional in both warm and cool weather.

Crown Ventilation

The helmet’s ventilation is moved to the crown section to make it safer and more efficient. The ventilation is switchable with just one switch back and forth.

Passive Exhaust Vents

The exhaust vents on the Covert FX are passive, and there is no way to seal off the rear of it completely.

However, if the front is open, the excellent vacuum exhaust system will suck out the hot moist air from inside the cabin and keep you cool.

Face Shield

Exterior Mounted Pivot System

The Scorpion EXO Covert FX has an exterior-mounted face shield pivot system, making it safer in the event of an impact.

Quick Release Face Shield Mechanism

The face shield mechanism is completely new for Scorpion EXO this year. The release for the face shield is on the left side, and there are several detents for various positions.

Easy Shield Changes

Once you master the shield change mechanism, changing the shield is quick and straightforward.

What I Like and Don’t Like

In general, I am happy with this helmet. The helmet is lightweight and looks good. In particular, I like that the helmet has a lot of air circulation, which helps keep me cool during hot rides.

One downside that I found is that the sizing runs a bit large. I had to change the cheek pads to make the helmet fit properly.

Additionally, I found the anti-fog coating on the dark shield can cause hazing in certain lighting conditions, which is something to keep in mind if you’re considering this full face helmet.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Scorpion EXO Covert FX is an excellent helmet that provides great value for its price.

With its lightweight composite shell, multiple shell sizes, low profile design, and certification to DOT and ECE 2206 safety standards, it is a full-face helmet that offers excellent protection and safety.

The ventilation system and face shield mechanism are also well-designed and functional, making it a comfortable and practical helmet to wear

It is also com system ready and comes with a five-year warranty, making it an even more appealing choice for riders.

The Scorpion EXO Covert FX is worth considering if you are looking for a new helmet that offers style and substance.
