When it comes to motorcycle helmets, there are few brands as respected and well-known as Arai. Their commitment to safety, quality, and comfort has made them a favorite among riders of all types. The Regent-X is their latest offering, and it’s a helmet that truly stands out from the crowd.
I had the opportunity to test this helmet for a couple of weeks so I can provide you an honest and detailed review.
In this review, I took an in-depth look at the helmet’s shell construction, available sizes, face shields, and the ventilation system. More importantly, I will answer in this review will be: Is this the best full-face motorcycle helmet for you? Let’s find out!
Arai Regent-X Helmet Review
Shell Construction
To kick-start our review, let’s start by talking about the overall design and construction of the helmet.
When it comes to the shell construction, we were impressed by the use of PB-cLc (Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction).
This construction method uses multiple layers of fibers that are laminated together to create a shell that is both lightweight and impact-resistant.
The result is a helmet that feels substantial in hand but doesn’t weigh you down when you’re on the road. The PB-cLc construction also allows for a sleek, aerodynamic design.
In addition, the helmet sits low on the head, which looks cool and improves visibility.
We appreciate the attention to detail that went into the construction of this full-face helmet, and it will give any rider confidence that it will protect you in the event of an accident.
Overall, the PB-cLc shell construction is a standout feature that sets it apart from other full-face helmets on the market.
In addition, it’s lightweight, impact-resistant, and aerodynamic shape make it a great choice for motorcycle riders looking for a high-quality helmet with superior protection.
Shell Sizes
The Regent-X is available in 4 shell sizes, ensuring a perfect fit for riders of any head size.
A helmet that fits well also makes it more comfortable to wear for long periods. I tested it on a recent commute of over 200 miles and found it didn’t cause headaches or neck pain.
This helmet only weighs 3.4 lbs, so not as heavy as some others in its class. Additionally, the helmet is designed to sit low on the head, which looks cool and improves visibility.
This allows you a better view of your surroundings, it also helps to reduce wind noise and turbulence.
The different shell sizes in the Regent-X Helmet also mean that it can accommodate a wide range of head shapes and sizes.
This is especially useful for riders who have difficulty finding helmets that fit well due to an unusual head shape or size.
For example, I have an Intermediate Oval shaped head, which fits me perfectly.

Faceshield
The face shield is one of the standout features we liked.
The VAS-V Max Vision pin-lock-ready face shield provides a wide field of vision and can be easily replaced if damaged.
This helmet also comes with a pinlock insert (not included) that prevents the shield from fogging up in cold or humid conditions. However, I was disappointed it didn’t come with a pinlock insert as standard as some other premium helmets.
The wide field of vision provided by the face shield allows for improved peripheral vision, allowing you to see more of your surroundings and anticipate potential hazards.
The ability to replace the shield easily is also a great feature, as it means that if it gets scratched or damaged, it can be quickly and easily replaced, ensuring your visibility is always optimal.
The anti-fog pinlock insert is also a great feature, as it prevents the shield from fogging up in cold or humid conditions. This is especially useful for riders who frequently ride in colder or wetter climates.
But, again, the ability to see is critical for your safety, and the anti-fog pinlock insert ensures that visibility is never compromised.
Ventilation
I live in a hot climate, so I was impressed that the Regent-X Helmet has such a good ventilation system.
The helmet’s Free Flow System (FFS) ventilation creates airflow under the helmet to reduce wind noise and turbulence while increasing hot air exhaust.
This helmet also features dual intake front vents, side exhausts, and a one-piece rear exhaust to keep you cool and comfortable while riding.
Additionally, the helmet has a three-position chin vent and neck vent exhaust to provide optimal ventilation.
The FFS ventilation system does a great job of keeping you cool and comfortable, even on long rides.
The airflow under the helmet helps reduce wind noise and turbulence, which can be distracting and uncomfortable when riding.
The combination of the front vents, side exhausts, and rear exhaust also helps to keep you cool by allowing hot air to escape and cooler air to enter the helmet.
The pockets for speakers are also a great feature, as they make it easy to add a Bluetooth system. In addition, they are located in the helmet’s interior, which means that the speakers are close to your ears, providing optimal sound quality.
The three-position chin vent and neck vent exhaust also contribute to the helmet’s ventilation system. These vents can be adjusted to suit your preference and the weather conditions.
They allow for better control of the airflow and the temperature inside the helmet, particularly useful on hot days or when riding at high speeds.
We also like the fact that the ventilation system is easy to use. The vents can be opened or closed with a simple finger slide, even when wearing gloves.
This is a great feature as it allows you to adjust the ventilation as needed while riding quickly.
Anti-Fogging
The helmet’s VAS-V Max Vision pinlock-ready face shield comes with a pinlock insert (not included) that prevents the shield from fogging up in cold or humid conditions.
As a rider, one of the most annoying things is dealing with a fogged-up face shield, especially in cold or humid conditions.
It can be dangerous, impair your vision, and be very uncomfortable. With the anti-fog pinlock insert, we didn’t have to worry about this problem, as it always kept the shield clear.
The anti-fog pinlock insert is also easy to install. It snaps into place on the face shield and can be removed just as easily for cleaning.
So again, it’s a small but significant feature that greatly impacts rider safety and comfort.
Furthermore, the helmet’s face shield is also pinlock ready, which means that it can be easily replaced if damaged, ensuring your visibility is always optimal.
Overall, the anti-fog system kept the shield clear, even in cold or humid conditions.
In addition, it was easy to install and remove, making it a great choice for riders looking for a high-quality helmet.
Fastening Strap System
The Regent-X features a double D-ring strap for a secure and comfortable fit.
The double D-ring strap is a tried and true method for fastening a helmet and is easy to use. The D-ring design allows for a secure fit, and the straps can be adjusted to fit your head perfectly.
We also found that the straps are easy to adjust, even when wearing gloves.
The D-ring design makes it easy to fasten and unfasten the helmet, and the straps can be adjusted with one hand, a great feature for those who frequently take their helmets on and off.
Bluetooth System
The helmet comes with pockets for speakers, making it easy to add a Bluetooth system for hands-free communication while riding.
This is especially important when riding in a group or giving instructions to a passenger.
The pockets for speakers are also a great feature, as they make it easy to add a Bluetooth system. In addition, they are located in the helmet’s interior, which means that the speakers are close to your ears, providing optimal sound quality.
It’s easy to set up and use. We could pair our phone with the system quickly and easily, and the sound quality was excellent.
Interior
The helmet is designed with an odor-resistant liner and removable, washable cheek pads with a 5mm peel-away layer for a perfect fit.
The helmet also features the Facial Contour System (FCS), which offers a snug fit using foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds without excessive pressure. It also comes with a non-removable chin curtain.
The odor-resistant liner is a great feature as it helps to keep the helmet smelling fresh, even after long rides. The removable, washable cheek pads make it easy to clean the helmet and keep it hygienic.
The 5mm peel-away layer also allows for a perfect fit, which is especially important as a proper fit is critical for the helmet to protect you in case of an accident.
The Facial Contour System (FCS) offers a snug fit by using a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds without excessive pressure.
This ensures that the helmet stays securely in place and doesn’t move around while riding.
Safety Regulations
The Arai Regent-X Helmet meets DOT (Department of Transportation) and Snell M2020 safety standards, ensuring that it provides superior protection during an accident.
